POSTPARTUM DOULA SUPPORT

Are you looking for someone to support you through the postpartum phase?

The first 40 days of postpartum is the most delicate and vulnerable time with your baby and family. Bringing a new baby home is a huge adjustment. I will not sugarcoat it, its going to be challenging. We can plan for your postpartum period as best as we can and ensure a calm environment with less distractions is created, inducing relaxation, rest, recovery and bonding time.

However, postpartum is a lot like laborland, we don’t know 100% what will happen. However, what we can do is do our best and I will ensure that you are nurtured and provided with somatic resources and the tools for your nervous system to build the capacity and resilience to cope with whatever is alive within each moment. And, it is not going to be perfect as you have another human to look after, which is a priority. But guess what, being an erotic mother is not about being put together. Being an erotic mother is about being messy, sometimes you may feel hopeless, some guilt and loneliness. And other times you may feel better. The erotic mother expresses her full colors and flavors. It will take a long time before you feel whole as there is an integration process that you must go through after your birth experience.

Society completely focuses on the newborn baby. However, I believe the mother should also be held. We have forgotten the importance of nurturing the mother. You deserve this special time for yourself to heal and process your experience. You are invited to give yourself the permission to rest as much as you can. It is my priority for you and your wellbeing.

We can also plan for having support from your family and friends. You are not meant to do this alone. A community is important to ensure a smooth transition for you and your baby.

If you have a partner, he will be guided on how to best support you and your baby’s needs and desires, no more second guessing and confusion on how to look after you both.

Is the reality of becoming a mother and the postpartum period causing you stress, anxiety and burnout? Are you a new mother going through realizations that things aren’t going the way they planned and you feel confused, challenged, and aren’t sure what it takes to fulfill the role of what society has stated in becoming a ‘good mother’?

You will be provided with a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you are being completely heard, felt and seen in expressing your emotions, feelings and challenges. Sometimes you don't want to be given advice. That's ok. Maybe you just want to be met. I will meet you wherever you are in the present moment, through all the waves of emotions. Society expects you to handle it all with a smile on your face, but you do not have to pretend with me.

Whether you are a first time mother or not, I will support you in emerging through the thresholds of the underworld, the unknown territory of pregnancy and labor. You will be supported in the integration of your shadows into the light. Even if you have had children before, no two births are the same. No two postpartum journeys are the same. You will be supported in your homecoming, in coming back to wholeness.

Are you looking for self-care and bonding rituals during this special time?

Life is a Ceremony, so let’s ensure every moment is spent with intention, presence and mindfulness. Let’s ensure pleasure and rest is taken seriously and is devoted to consistently. Ask yourself “What will make me feel good in this moment?” “What will bring me pleasure?” Whether it is crafting a herbal bath for you to enjoy alone (whilst I look after your baby) or enjoy together with your baby as a bonding experience or providing a massage or soft soothing touch to induce relaxation, you and your baby will bask in these moments through the five senses.

I am also excited to facilitate a motherhood initiation ceremony where close family members and friends can also be present. A placenta ceremony can also be facilitated where the placenta can be buried below a tree in your garden and the blood can be used for art. Ceremonies are provided at an additional cost in the hourly or package rates.

Are you seeking holistic breastfeeding support?

You will be provided with encouragement throughout this phase of learning how to breastfeed. Lactation is a natural process, however breastfeeding is a skill that you need to learn. I will provide you with useful breastfeeding tips and advice and I will ensure that your environment creates an easeful breastfeeding experience. You will be nourished and hydrated throughout this time.

You will also be provided with evidence-based research, resources and referrals that will help to support you throughout this journey.

We can discuss the various goals, needs and desires of how this journey of support and working together will look like. Use the contact form found in the contact section of this website if you would like to organize a free in person, phone call or zoom video consultation.
